420 Jam Fest @ The State Theatre

What better way to kick off the 2014 festie season than making our 3rd appearance at the 3rd annual 420 Jam Fest? We can't think of anything too much better! The last two years at 420 Jam Fest have been super (the first at Marty's Playhouse, last year's at Martha's Midway Tavern), but this year is going to be bigger and better! The lineup has tripled, there will be many various vendors, it's an all ages event, and it's at The State Theatre in South Bend, Indiana! Our lead guitarist, Ryan is chief organizer of the event, so this is a very special show for us! We know this is going to be a really really fun one! Y'all sure know how to party down there in Indiana! Yeeehaw!!  Thank goodness that damn winter is gone! Three cheers for spring finally showin' up! We'll see you at 420 Jam Fest!

SPRING IS NEAR!

This cold and snow can't stay around too much longer!! Soon before we know it, the birds will be singin', the sun will be shinin', and we'll all be camping out for The Bus Stop Jamboree in May! But before then we've got some great shows lined up including St. Patty's Jamboree at Black River Tavern Saturday March 15th, 4/20 JAM FEST! @ The State Theatre in South Bend on Saturday, April 19th, and we'll be at Mac's Bar in Lansing, MI with Fried Egg Nebula and Earphorik on May 9th. But we're looking to book more gigs this Spring and Summer....many more. EJB is going to make this the most epic summer yet, so if you have any leads on booking shows at venues, you need a band for a house party, a wedding, or a birthday, or if you know about any slots available for any festivals, please contact us, and we'll set something up!! Stay calm and be patient, folks!! Winter is nearly over!!! Yyyyyeeeeehhhaaaawwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!

St. Patty's Day Will Soon Be Upon Us

That's right.  St Patty's Day will be here VERY quickly.

I am so glad that Electric Jug Band will be playing this year, and even happier to spend it with our good friends Burton's Garden and Digiometric who we haven't seen since last summer.  If anyone was at Land of Electric you may remember saxophones playing till 5 in the morning.  Can't top that.

St Patty's Day is a great time to get out and have a good time.  Everyone is Irish for the day, heavy drinking is encouraged and if you are anything like me the next day you need to be reminded what actually happened.  Well if you come out to Fast Trax Bar and Grill I'm sure your good times will be imprinted on your mind regardless of how much green beer is consumed.

Hope to see you all on Saturday.

Hey let us hear some of your great St Patty's Day stories.  Everyone likes to hear those!

Had A Blast At Land of Electric

WHEW - What a great time Land of Electric was!

We want to thank everyone for all of their hard work to make the event possible.  The days were filled with great bands.  Everyone I met were great people.  The music was rocking and we were surrounded by the beauty of the wonderful Michigan outdoors - for what else could one ask?

We want to give an special shoutout to Alex and Marty the sax players from Digeometric.  They hung with us at the jam fire until the sun came up and me jammed to bring in the morn.  I know there were others there, but it was dark and I couldn't see everyone.  That is our favorite part of the festivals - getting to meet all the new people and get to play with them.

Keep an eye out we will try to have some recordings up soon.

It's been a great summer and it's only half over! - Well I guess it just officially started

Electric Jug Band has been very busy this spring and summer.  We've been at the Water Bowl in Indiana, The Heavy Hammer Jamboree in Three Rivers, The Buttermilk Jamboree in Delton, and don't forget Electric Jug Band's own Bus Stop.

It has been a wild ride - especially with Ted's homemade 2 by 4 hillbilly cruise control.

We've met alot of great people and had alot of great jams.

Were you there?  If so we thank you immensely and hope you come back with friends.

If you missed it - well - Where Are You?

But Wait Theres More

They don't play music there.....You were right but Main St Pub is going to try something new.  They want music and Electric Jug Band is gonna give it to them.  I think we all want more live music in Kalamazoo and we know that when places start having music it takes a while and they stop before it gets established.  Let's not let that happen.  Come on out and show Main St that YOU WANT LIVE MUSIC.  Let's show them what really brings people out!

The Bus Stop Rolls on Saturday May 21, 2011

The weather is warm.  Summer is around the bend.  That means that The Bus Stop is ready to go.  That's right Electric Jug band has their own venue located in good ole Vicksburg.  We hope to have plenty of shows out at The Bus Stop but don't let that fact keep you from being at the first one of the year.

Located on 40 acres in Vicksburg at 14996 South 27th Street (look for Gregg Lane), The Bus Stop is a great place for shows.  With plenty of space for camping (which we encourage), nature abound, and freedom to have a great time as you see fit (we know that everyone there will be respectful of one another though), The Bus Stop has a wonderful vibe for a venue to showcase your local music scene.

Oh yeah, did I mention that The Bus Stop is FREE?  IT"S FREE

There will be 10 bands playing throughout the day with music starting at Noon and going till 1:30 AM.

That's right 10 BANDS FOR FREE where else can you get a deal like that.

We've been making a few additions to the stage and the site.  We hope that you will enjoy your time.  We are definitely looking forward to to seeing everyone out there.  Please support your local musicians who put their souls on display for your pleasure.

Remember "Without music there would be no love!"

Great Times at the Heavy Hammer

YeeHaw!  We had a great time at the Heavy Hammer Jamboree on Saturday.  It was an honor to get to kick of the festival.  First off we want to thank everyone who did their part to put on this event, all of the bands who played there, and everyone who came out.  If you made it out we hope to see you back there next year along with all your friends.  If you were unable to make it out (shame on you ;) ) but we will see you there next year.

We had a pretty good set and got lots of great video thanks to Tori.  We will have that video up soon.  It's always fun when we can play on a stage that's big enough to actually accommodate us, rather than being squashed on a bar stage.

For everyone who got a chance to check out The Half Ton Blues Gun (and I hope you did).  I want to remind you that we will be playing two upcoming gigs with them.  The first here in Kalamazoo at Harvey's on June 4th, and then in their home-stomping grounds of St. Joseph at Mickey's Pub on June 17th.

For all of you who were there feel free to post your thoughts on the festival here in the comments section.  We look forward to hearing you.

The Heavy Hammer Falls on Saturday 05-07-11

The Riviera Theater in Three Rivers, MI is going to be overtaken by twelve of the areas greatest bands ranging from Americana, Country, Bluegrass, Folk, Blues to much more in between.  Make sure to come support your local musicians who are bringing you this glorious blend of true American music.

We the Electric Jug Band will be kicking off this festival at 2PM on the Main Stage.  We are honored to be the FIRST band of the FIRST EVER Heavy Hammer Jamboree.

The Riviera Theater is a great venue (we have played there a few times before).  There is plenty of room for dancing, a bar just outside of the main seating area, and plenty of seats (although we know you will be up dancing).  So you don't want to miss this opportunity to be part of the virgin cruise of The Heavy Hammer Jamboree.

Tickets the day of the show will be $15.  Which is a steal - Just $1.25 per band.  We are looking forward to seeing all of you there.

Remember: Without Music there would be no Love.

Our First Post - Looking forward to Dancing in the Dark

Well here it is - We have our blog up and running.

We will try to keep this updated with new information and out thoughts as we like to think that you are interested.

Less then two years ago Electric Jug Band played their first gig.  It was at the end of a cul de sac in the country.  For one member it was the second time playing with the other member (yes just one rehearsal) -  and many of the other members hadn't even joined yet (Oh the days of just five members).  Since then we have come along way, added quite a few members and a few friends that sometimes grace the stage with us.  We've released our album and will be playing many festivals this summer.  Gotta love growth!

Where can a band with 10 members actually play?  Well, we have been known to fit on some very small stages at some bars (stages that barely hold a five-piece but we manage).  Thankfully we will be playing some much larger venues and hope to see you there.  We started our festival tour playing at the Fretboard Festival in Kalamazoo.  For anyone who doesn't remember, there was a day when Gibson guitars were made in Kalamazoo.  And while they have sadly moved from here there are still many local guitar builders (many who were once employed by Gibson) that still make very fine guitars.  Kalamazoo is very proud of this heritage and celebrates it every year.  Electric Jug Band was lucky enough to be part of this celebration.  Even included was a seminar on the history of and making of a wash-tub bass given by our very own Washtub Ted.  By the end of the seminar everyone got to play with each other and it was a blast.

In less then a week we will be packing up all of our equipment and all of us in our new 15 passenger van (and probably another vehicle for equipment) and heading down to the Water Bowl in Muncie, IN for the Dancing In The Dark festival.  It starts Friday, April 15th and goes through Sunday April 17th.  This will actually be Electric Jug Band's first gig out of their home state of Michigan.  That's right we are now (well will be) REGIONAL.  We are very excited to take this opportunity to share our music with a hopefully ever-growing fanbase.

Sadly our drummer Steve will not be with us at this festival - he had some prior engagements that could not be changed.  Don't let that make you think that our show will be sub par.  We have been playing with Vinnie who is an amazing drummer.  He can absolutely fill the shoes and bring a new aspect to the music (who knows this may lead to two set players?).  Be prepared for your favorites that are available on the album with some special new songs.  We may even sneak in a few brand new ones to all of us so Vinnie isn't the only one on his toes.

We hope to see you all out at the Water Bowl for the Dancing In The Dark Festival.  We are ready to play and have a great show planned.  Bring your dancing shoes and your friends.  Get ready you are going to be Hangin' With The Jug  Band.
